Oval Top Gate Leg Dining Table

The dining room table served a very important function in all colonial homes, just as they do today. It wasn't limited to simply serving meals, however, the table may have been used for a writing surface, a card table or perhaps a gathering point where one could entertain friends or business acquaintances.

During the Colonial period, homes were smaller and furnishings needed to be compact. This table fills that need. With the gate legs closed and the leaves folded down, the top is only about fourteen inches wide for easy storage, yet it still opens nicely to seat six guests.

This table is made from tiger maple, which produces a very interesting grain. It could have just as easily been made from other beautiful woods like cherry, walnut or mahogany. The top of the table pictured here is finished with a varnish, which should provide years of use with reasonable maintenance.

Should you choose to purchase one of my Gate Leg Tables I am sure that you will enjoy it as much as my family does the one in our home.
