Pie Crust Table
Perhaps one of the most interesting "high-style" pieces of the Chippendale period was the pie crust table. The scalloped edges of these tables were influenced by the 18th century silver dining service pieces and candlesticks. They were made in several areas of the colonies, but Philadelphia seems to be where the best examples were produced. The tops of these tables turned on the center pedestal and the top also tipped above a "bird cage" structure which designated it a Chippendale piece. The pie crust table was made with varying amounts of ornamentation, but any pie crust will add a feeling of elegance to a home.
