Queen Anne Tavern Table
The colonial tavern was a gathering place for many travelers, or area residents who wanted to enjoy the fellowship of others. Whereas many of these taverns and inns were not large places, a small table with drop leaves and gate legs took up little space.
It could comfortably seat four for a card game, meal or just an evening drink with friends. This table has graceful cabriole legs with turned pad feet and adds an elegant appearance to a dining area as a breakfast table, or a sofa table in a living room.
Typically, these tables were made from locally available wood species such as cherry, maple or walnut, but could have been found in mahogany as well. The finish should be capable of standing up to heavy use as a dining table, or could be done in more of a "high style" finish for use in a living area. A number of finishes are available based on the buyer's preference.
