Slipper Foot Tip Top Table

Many interesting designs came from the "Federal Period" of our country's history. This table is an example of that, with its carved "slipper" feet, graceful cabriole legs and heavy turned center post. It is a tripod table with three legs and a top that tips up. This would allow it to be stored along a wall and thus not take up valuable floor space. At times the tip-top may have been used in the up position to shelter the user from the excess heat produced from the fireplace.

This table is made of solid cherry with a rubbed varnish finish which will give it a wonderfully "mellow" appearance for a lifetime of use. It was constructed to be a companion piece to the pencil post bed and six board chest, but looks spectacular standing on its own. The buyer's wood choice can vary, but mahogany, walnut and cherry are the most popular.
